The Auto-Close feature enables your Yale Smart Opener to Close your Garage/Gate automatically after a predetermined amount of time (up to 30 minutes) has passed.
When Auto Close is activated, the timer will start as soon as the Garage/Gate fully open status is detected in the app, when the timer runs out, the Garage/Gate will begin to close. This applies even if the Garage/Gate was opened with a RF remote, manually or any other opening method apart from using the app.
Follow the steps below to perform a factory reset on your Yale Smart Opener:
1. On your phone, open the Yale Access App and go to the lock circle screen, which is the screen that shows you whether your door is locked or unlocked.
2. Select the Settings menu (gear icon).
3. Select the device you wish to reset.
4. Scroll to factory reset.
5. Select "Reset".
Firmware updates are released periodically to help improve connection speed, connection reliability, controls, and Auto-Open/Close.
Firmware updates begin automatically when the owner connects to their Yale Smart Opener. You can still operate your Yale Smart Opener via the app during the update. Firmware updates can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Be sure to keep your phone near your Yale Smart Opener, with the Yale app open throughout the entire update.
If you are having trouble connecting to your Yale Smart Opener using the Yale Access App, the following troubleshooting may help:
- Trying to connect remotely
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Turn off and on
- Force quit the Yale Access App
- Trying to connect over Bluetooth

The Yale Access App will notify you in advance if the batteries are running low (when the batteries are at 25%), giving you an opportunity to replace them before they run out of charge. Should the battery completely run out of charge on the Yale Door Position Sensor, the Yale Smart opener will still continue to function but the state of the door position will not be accurate.
The expected battery life of the Door Position Sensor (DPS) is approximately 3 Years
