Getting Started

  • Can I wall or floor-mount this Safe?

    You can either wall or floor-mount this Safe, and four bolts are provided for your use.

  • Can I use the Yale Smart Safe as a standalone setup?

    If a user decides not to set up the Yale Smart Safe with Yale Access, they have the option to set it up in ‘Stand Alone mode’ using either the key or the keypad. ​

  • How do I grant access to my Yale Smart Safe?

  • Can I operate the Yale Smart Safe remotely if not within Bluetooth range?

    Remote operation outside of Bluetooth range will require a Yale Connect Bridge.

  • Apple Watch and Yale Access

    If you have an Apple Watch and a Yale Smart Access product used with Wi-Fi and the Yale Access app, you can use your Apple Watch to lock and unlock. Open the Yale Access App on the device. Tap the green lock circle to unlock the door. Conversely, tap the red lock circle to lock it again. You must be the Owner to operate the Yale Access app with an Apple Watch.

Troubleshooting

  • I have forgotten my PIN code using the Safe in standalone mode?

    Unlock the Yale Smart Safe with the mechanical key provided in the box. Then press and hold the red button located on the side of the Safe door for five seconds to factory reset the Safe.

    After a factory reset you may now set a new PIN code. 

  • What happens if the batteries have run out and I cannot find my key?

    There is a 9V terminal positioned under the keypad. When placing a good quality 9V battery on the terminal, this will power up the Safe and you can use the Yale Access app or pin code to open the Safe.​

  • Entry Codes cannot be created in the Yale Access app?

    The Yale Smart Safe accepts codes between  4 - 6 digits in length. Verify the code you are entering meets this criteria.

  • Why can’t I remove my key out of the Yale Smart Safe?

    Please remember that if you have opened the Safe with the key, you also have to lock it with the key, from then on you can continue using the entry code or Yale Access app.

  • What type of batteries does the Yale Smart Safe use?

    The Yale Smart Safe uses 4xAA Alkaline batteries which are included in the box. The batteries will last approximately twelve months. It is a advised to change the batteries after twelve months to prevent the risk of the batteries leaking into the battery compartment. 

  • How do I turn the sounds on/off?

    Via the Yale Access App, while connected to the Yale Smart Safe, go to Settings > lock settings > Adjust device Voice > Off/High

  • How many people can I share access to the Yale Smart Safe with?

    There is a maximum number of 25 Yale Access app users that  can have access to the Safe at the same time.​

  • I do not receive notifications from the Yale Access app, why?

    In order to receive notifications for your Smart Safe, you must have the Yale Access Wi-Fi bridge set up with your Safe and Yale Access app.
