At Yale, interoperability and convenience are at the forefront of what we are aiming to achieve as a brand. This is why the company is expanding its portfolio with the launch of its new generation of smart security products.
Our ultimate goal is to not only make smarter products but to also make them easier to operate for you in your everyday life. With this goal in mind, the Yale Smart Security Ecosystem was born!
The Yale Smart Security Ecosystem
Our new Yale Linus® L2 Smart Lock, Smart Alarm, Smart Indoor and Outdoor Cameras, and Smart Video Doorbell are all part of the Yale Smart Security Ecosystem. These newly launched devices have been designed to be seamlessly interoperable with our other popular Yale products, such as the Smart Gate and Garage Opener and Smart storage solutions.
So how does the ecosystem work? Well, you can start with one product and build your home security system by adding more devices according to your needs. You can then manage your multiple devices from one location, the Yale Home app, to simplify the user experience and eliminate the need to deal with multiple apps for different products. The ecosystem ensures seamless integration between Yale products and a selection of our trusted Yale partners. The ecosystem also provides advanced features and automation between devices for additional convenience from anywhere in the world.

How the Ecosystem benefits users
There are many advantages to our new ecosystem of products. However, interoperability is the biggest advantage of the system at work! Interoperability doesn’t just mean that our different devices will be connected to the same system or app, it also means that they interact with each other. This means that an event from one device can trigger an action at another device, to provide you with a smarter home and an even higher level of convenience!
For example, through the ecosystem of products you could unlock your door using the Linus® L2 Smart Lock and then your Yale Smart Alarm would go into disarmed mode the moment you enter your home. So if any kids or trusted visitors like family, friends or the dog walker need to enter your home but might not be familiar with your security set-up, you won’t have to worry about your alarm being triggered.
This use case can also be expanded with the help of our new range of Yale Smart Cameras. Using the Indoor camera, you can set your camera to go into privacy mode the moment you disarm your alarm, to grant peace of mind and enhanced levels of privacy. You can also enable recording for both Indoor and Outdoor Cameras when your alarm is armed or when a specific user unlocks the lock, to create a solid security system that suits your needs. This feature is particularly useful for parents to make sure that their kids are home safely.
Our Smart Camera range and Smart Video Doorbell also come with built-in AI capabilities to enable human detection, as well as other features including customisable zones, for no additional cost. With customisable detection zones, you can define specific areas you want your camera to cover as well as what to avoid. Intelligent AI features, such as vehicle, pet and package detection, are all available in the Smart Cameras and Smart Doorbell as part of the subscription plan. These features will reduce the number of false alarm triggers sent to your phone and make the ecosystem smarter overall. Cloud recording options are also available within the ecosystem.
As part of the Ecosystem, you can grant permanent or temporary access remotely using one single code for Linus® L2, Smart Opener, Smart Safe and Smart Cabinet Lock using the Yale Home app. This scenario would be ideal if you host a vacation rental, as it would allow you to easily grant access to guests to any safe, cabinet, and doors, then easily revoke access for all once their stay is complete
Finally, by using a Yale indoor Camera and a Smart Garage Opener you can remotely open your garage for a friend to retrieve any tools. In the Yale Home app, you can then check your door's status, view your garage through a video stream, and close the garage door after your friend leaves.
We have designed the ecosystem to be open for interoperability with other brands to improve the user experience. These partnerships cover a wide variety of areas including Smart Home, Smart Hosting, and Video Intercoms with partners like Samsung SmartThings, Homey, Operto, Doorbird and voice assistants such as Google Home and Amazon Alexa, just to name a few. For example, with Linus® L2 you can trigger actions like turning off lights or turning down thermostats when you are leaving home once your door locks, and turning each system back on as soon as your door unlocks to better conserve energy. We are currently aligning with our partners to develop matter-compliant solutions, with integrations anticipated sometime during 2024 to help provide you with a smoother hassle-free security experience when using the Linus® L2 Smart Lock.
The possibilities and applications of the ecosystem are endless. Enjoy a truly smart and interconnected home today with the help of the Yale Smart Security Ecosystem.
