Life is pretty fast paced for me. Work is a huge priority and often takes over my life, so I always opt for smart home gadgets that suit my busy lifestyle.

An average day in the life sees me getting up at 6.30am and heading out to the gym. I’m glued to my smartphone or a laptop screen for most of the day for work and so I try to cycle to the office.

I’ve always enjoyed tech gadgets and find that I often opt for smart home products, as they give me the flexibility to control products in my home remotely - which is perfect for my property, as it lies empty for most of the day. Living alone, smart home gadgets are another big plus to make my home look ‘lived in’ and to prevent being a target of burglary.

I wouldn’t call myself a ‘tech fanatic’, but I certainly do enjoy the convenience and flexibility that smart home products offer. I am working towards adding more gadgets to my home, but I’ve started with a few key essentials including smart lighting, security cameras, a smart speaker and, more recently, a smart lock.

All these gadgets work seamlessly together, and I find it reassuring to know I can control products in my home remotely if I get kept late at work or decide to go away for a couple of days.

On a typical day, I set my lights to turn on automatically both inside and outside of my home, which makes me feel reassured knowing that it looks like someone is home. My security cameras are also a great way for me to keep an eye on what’s going on at home with just the touch of a button.

Alongside these handy gadgets, I also recently invested in a smart lock, which has been a particularly useful piece of kit that has allowed me to let trusted visitors, including my cleaner, into my property remotely. I am concerned about giving out spare keys to people, so it’s good to know that I can set timers or revoke keys at just the touch of a button if I need to.

After doing plenty of research, I decided to opt for a Yale smart lock, as I was aware of its credentials in the smart home and security markets. What’s more, Yale’s handy Access App was a key selling point, as it allows me to have the flexibility to control who can come and go from my home when I’m cooped up in a meeting or jetting off to the other side of the world.

The Access app even allows me to review audits of who’s entered my home, so I can always be up to date on the security of my property. And for that added peace of mind, I can even check that the door has been closed properly when I’m out of the house due to the DoorSenseTM functionality.

I will certainly continue to invest in smart technology to build a fully connected ‘smart home’ - it works for my lifestyle and allows me to be in control of my home from any location at any time, something that’s invaluable to me.
