Assure Lock Series

FAQ

  • Assure locks are designed to fit both right-handed and left-handed doors and will electronically set the correct handing during the initial set-up process. For instructions on how to change the handing of the lock, please refer to the Programming/Operating Instructions.

  • No, when you install the lock you will be required to set your own “Master Code.” This will be used for all future programming; keep this code in a safe and secret space.

  • If you have lost your master code it’s best to reset your lock back to factory settings.

Refer to the Factory Reset in the instruction manual for steps.

  • The tamper alarm is a security feature that alerts you when your lock has been tampered with. The tamper alarm is activated if the cable that contacts the keypad of the lock to the interior of the lock is removed.

If someone tries to enter the home by forcibly pulling the keypad off the door, this action will disconnect the cable from the inside of the lock, causing the tamper alarm to sound. Yale Access users will also receive a notification via the App whenever the tamper alarm sounds.

The tamper alarm will continue to go off until either the batteries are removed or the lock’s cable is reconnected.

  • The lock is not built to handle gates or applications where the interior of the lock is exposed to outdoor conditions all day or night.

  • Assure Locks can hold 25 user codes without a module. With the Yale Access module installed they can store up to 250 user codes.

    1. Install the deadbolt on the door
    2. Insert optional radio module
    3. Insert batteries
    4. Wake up the keypad
    5. Program master code.

    Troubleshooting

You may need to re-hand your lock in the following cases:

If the lock was programmed off the door and the lock will not lock / unlock itself.

Troubleshooting

  • If you are unable to lock your door following installation or reset, your lock likely needs to be (re)handed. To hand your lock:

    1. Enter the 4-8 digit Master Entry Code followed by the Gear key
    2. Enter the number 3 followed by the Gear key to access Advanced Lock Settings
    3. Enter the number 5 followed by the Gear key
    4. Enter the Gear key or the Check key to confirm automatic Lock Handing
  • Entry Codes must consist of 4 to 8 digits to register. The same code cannot be used for multiple users.

Registration/management of codes is set by the Entry Code authority of the Master Entry Code, which is set first. If your Entry Code will not register, contact the Master user.

User codes must be entered within 5 seconds (while touchscreen is active) or the process will have to be restarted.

Check or gear keys cannot be used as part of the code.

  • Lockout Mode is enabled. Only the Master Entry Code can enable/disable Lockout Mode. If this happens, contact the Master user.

  • Batteries may be completely discharged. Apply 9V battery to terminals below the touchscreen for backup power option.

  • Batteries do not have enough power. Replace batteries.

My door is jamming or my deadbolt isn't extending properly. How can I fix the issue of a misaligned door?

Sometimes, a misaligned door can make it seem like your deadlock is malfunctioning and losing battery faster than usual.

  • There may be a few reasons why your batteries are draining faster than expected.

First, check to make sure the white cable on the inside of the lock is securely fastened. To do this, you will need to remove the battery cover from your lock, remove the 4 AA batteries and then unscrew the three small black screws (two in the battery compartment, one at the base of the lock interior) and dismantle the interior side of the lock. The white cable connecter has two ridges the should be facing outwards and the cable connecter should snugly fit into the adapter located on the interior side of the lock. This video can help.

You should also check your door prep and alignment. If you deadbolt latch jams when trying to lock the door, this will cause your locks batteries to drain as well. Check out this video for help with your door alignment.

Another reason why your battery may be draining could be that, if you’re using a smart home hub (i.e. Samsung SmartThings, Wink, etc), your hub may be too far away from your door.

  • If you created entry codes from the Yale lock’s programming menu, prior to setting up the Yale Home App, those codes are no longer useable. You must re-create the entry codes directly from the Yale Home App.

Note, only entry codes that are created through the Yale Home App, will be shown in the activity history. It is recommended to only set up entry codes from the Yale Home App.
